“To travel is to discover that everyone is wrong about other countries”.
Hello WanOnTheRoad Fam β£
Today is World Tourism day π Woohoo! I know that you love touring around cities all over the world as much as i do because touring the world is a pleasure greater than anything else. On the 27th of September every year since 1980, United Nations World Tourism Organization celebrates the World Tourism day throughout the globe. The prime aim of the day is to bring about awareness amongst people regarding the value of tourism in any place. This date was chosen to coincide with an important milestone in world tourism: the 10th anniversary of the adoption of the UNWTO Statutes on 27 September 1970.
The theme for World Tourism Day 2021 is βTourism for Inclusive Growthβ. UNWTO has designated it such as an opportunity to look beyond tourism statistics and acknowledge that, behind every number, there is a person. This year’s official celebration will be hosted by Cote d’Ivoire, celebrating tourism’s ability to drive inclusive development and the role it plays in promoting respect while generating opportunities for many millions across the globe.

Significance
Travelling brings happiness, joy and is the best mental therapy. However, the COVID-19 pandemic into being it has forced everyone to stay at home or wear at least two masks and carry a hand sanitizer to keep themselves away from the deadly virus. It forced people to leave the tourism sector in search of a job in other sectors. This year, World Tourism Day not only highlights these issues but also urges for ‘inclusive growth’. UNWTO urges people to highlight the ability of tourism as the world has started opening. βBy celebrating this day, we state our commitment that, as tourism grows, the benefits that come will be felt at every level of our broad and diverse sector, from the biggest airline to the smallest family business,β Zurab Pololikashvili, Secretary-General, UNWTO, said in his official message.
