December a month of joy

December a month of joy: How I am celebrating my Christmas

Every year we all hear the same thing:

“Christmas isn’t about Jesus anymore.”

“I feel Christmas is just about consumerism.”

“Jesus should be the reason for the season, but nobody seems to care.”

“Why doesn’t anyone say Merry Christmas anymore?”

Well you can fix that right here and now!

It all begins with you!

Let this Christmas season be a season of joy for you. Others may not see the joy of this season, but you can bask in the inner joy of Christ and spread it to others you encounter.

That’s why I am going to show you how I am celebrating my Christmas and making December a month of joy!

It is now Christmas, MY FAVORITE TIME OF THE YEAR. People has wondered why Christmas is so special to me: From the food and presents to the decorations, the family-focused, religious messages, parties and sparkly lights, what’s not to love? There’s just something magical about Christmas that effortlessly captures our imaginations… It’s no secret that the Christmas festive season can often prove to be a somewhat stressful experience for hosts planning menus, organizing gifts and planning catchups, however this year I thought I would share my advice to embracing the momentum of the festive season and remembering to stop and enjoy the moments shared throughout the season! It’s time to make the best of the happiest time of the year ALL month long.

Blast the Christmas Music https://wanontheroad.travel.blog/2019/12/11/top-haitian-christmas-songs/ (this doesn’t stop until Dec 26 or later), Get your decorations, put up the Christmas lights, Tree, and Deck the Halls.

I love cake, so why not let them bake a special cake to celebrate the birth of the King? The important thing is to celebrate Jesus and have fun doing it

  • Attend a Christmas Eve Service

Typically, a Christmas Eve service in our area consists of a sermon that focuses on the nativity story and many times these are candlelit services. I always think it’s amazing that no matter how many times I hear the Christmas story preached from Luke’s gospel, I can appreciate something new that God wants to impress upon my heart. Some Christmas Eve services will also include a live nativity which kids will love as well.

  • Serve Others

What better way to celebrate Jesus than to be His hands and feet! This Christmas, I plan to volunteer at a homeless charity. I also donate some stuff I no longer use to kids and family in needs. As soon as I’ve moved into a house that has a bit more room than what I’ve got now, I plan to adopt two kids (boy & girl) from an orphanage. That might not happen until after Christmas, but it’s just one of the ways I plan to ‘give back’ this Christmas.

Think of ways you could serve others in your community on Christmas Eve.  You could:

  1. Bake cookies and take to your neighborhood
  2. Invite another family to join you for a Christmas meal
  • Have an Annual Family Christmas Kick-off Dinner/ Family Game Night

There’s not much more that I love than Game Nights. I love spending time with family and winning! I don’t care how old you get Monopoly will always be a family favorite. Game nights are something we do often but it’s more special when we do it around Christmas.

  • Christmas Movie Night/Day

Make hot cocoa, popcorn, and get cozy under the blankets.  Pick out your favorite Christmas movies and have a Christmas marathon!  I look forward to our lazy mornings with my coffee, movie, and loved ones.

I hope you enjoyed today’s blogmas post and found some useful tips to help you stay calm and enjoy the Christmas season without stress… It’s the most wonderful time of year! 🙂

MERRY CHRISTMAS

It’s an amazing feeling to have peace in your home (and mind), joy, and love. Jesus came so that we have life and have it abundantly. John 10:10
